Facebook App Center launches in India

The Facebook App Center is finally available in India, following Facebook's recent announcement about the App Center going global. App Center makes it easy to find apps through your friends, and gives apps another way to grow. Each person has a personalized experience in the App Center, with recommendations based on the apps they and their friends use, whether it be games, fashion, food, fitness, travel, or any other lifestyle app. The apps are shown according to recommendations by users. The App Center is available on mobile via the Facebook app for iOS and Android, or by accessing Facebook.com on mobile.

The App Center was launched in June with more than 600 social apps, including Nike+ Running, Ubisoft Ghost Recon Commander, Stitcher Radio, and Draw Something. Commenting on the App Center, Aaron Brady of Facebook said, “The App Center is designed to grow mobile apps that use Facebook – whether they’re on iOS, Android or the mobile web. From the mobile App Center, users can browse apps that are compatible with their device, and if a mobile app requires installation, they will be sent to download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
Gets 'biz'y
We can have the App Center now?! Yay!

Facebook is massively popular in today’s age. Almost everyone has a Facebook account. Many people like to spend their time playing some of the social games that Facebook has to offer, such as Farmville, Words with Friends, Poker, etc. Currently, more than 230 million people play games on Facebook every month. More than 130 games on the networking site have more than one million active users every month.

Since the f8 developer conference in 2011, more than 4,500 apps for Facebook’s timeline have been launched. As of May 2012, seven of the top 10 iOS apps and six of the top 10 Android apps have integrated with Facebook. The App Center has many popular apps such as Pinterest, Rotten Tomatoes, Soundcloud, Instagram, etc., along with many games.

Facebook also used the announcement for some updated details on how well the App Center has performed since its launch. Games developer Kixeye says that average revenues per user on their games War Commander and Battle Pirates are higher for those downloading through the App Center; Disney reports that users of Marvel: Avengers Alliance are also more “engaged” when they download via the App Center.

Facebook App Center executive Drew Hopkins said that Facebook would be launching the App Center in Brazil, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey in the coming weeks. [via Tech2]
